Ryan Keen is an English singer songwriter from Devon, who’s sound can be described as a mix of acoustic, folk & pop.
Growing up Ryan learnt many styles of guitar ranging from classical, flamenco and folk through to electric and notes his musical influences as Eric Roche, Newton Faulkner and Coldplay.
Setting Ryan apart from other artists in his genre is the style in which he plays guitar, heavily influenced by Flamenco he uses a technique referred to as rhythmic-percussive finger-picking creating a very unique sound.
In a short amount of time Ryan has released two EP’s, 2009 Aiming For The Sun & the forthcoming Focus (rel 19th March 12′). Since his release he has toured the UK extensively including supporting Ed Sheeran on his sold out ‘+’ tour in 2011. He has managed to build up a strong fan base over this time which is impressive for an unsigned artist relying entirely on Word of Mouth.
I first saw Ryan Keen at Ronnie Scotts in Soho December 2011, it was a very intimate gig and I was blown away by his talent, all of his songs are drawn from personal experiences and it’s clear to see that Ryan is incredibly passionate about the music he writes, with vocals and lyrics that perfectly compliment his complex guitar parts.
Being hailed as Zane Lowe’s “Next Hype” and “One To Watch” in 2012 by The Daily Mail plus the support of Radio 1, Ryan Keen is rapidly gaining the attention of the music industry that he deserves. This summer Ryan will be appearing at a number of festivals so I highly recommend you catch him in the coming months.
